Molly is going to the store to shop for the very first time.
Her grandmother asks her to buy some beans, but along the
way, Molly forgets what she’s supposed to buy and gets a
sack of potatoes instead. A very long and arduous journey
back home follows.
When Grandma asks Molly what happened, Molly tells her that
the shopkeeper insisted that she buy the potatoes. Grandma
gets very upset when she hears this, and goes to the store
to speak to the shopkeeper.
When Grandma returns, Molly is hiding under the kitchen table. Grandma asks Molly if she forgot what she was supposed to buy, and Molly answers "sort of". She also asks Molly why she hasn´t told her the truth, but Molly can’t answer that.
Grandma understands the situation and asks if Molly can go and get them some muffins for their tea. Molly says she can. Now she feels cheerful and confident again. Molly walks through the town again, this time to the bakery. But when she gets there, although she remembers she's shopping for muffins, now there's another problem: the coin purse her Grandma gave her is gone!
Molly runs back to Grandma as fast as possible. Back at home she bursts into tears and wails that the coin purse has been stolen. Grandma suggests that she go back and search for it, and eventually Molly finds it in the street.
Molly heads back to the bakery, this time with the coin purse firmly in her hand. She just has to ask for two…two… “Cream puffs, perhaps?” the baker asks, and tells her that they’re fresh out of the oven.
Molly thinks she recognizes them, that she’s got it right this time. The baker puts them in a box. Molly walks back home, a little anxious that there might be something wrong again.
She hands Grandma the box with the cream puffs. Grandma opens it slowly, looks inside…and then says “This is…right!” Molly is very relieved and happy, and Grandma and Molly sit down and enjoy their cream puffs.
